Some stuff I forgot to mention: Brush cleanser has the benefit of cleaning your brushes with a greatly reduced drying time because it contains alcohol. An eye brush, for example, cleaned with brush cleanser will be dry after about 3 minutes or so, whereas the drying time when washing with shampoo and water can vary - anywhere between 5 to 15 minutes, and even overnight for larger more dense brushes like kabukis. Foundation brushes used for liquid or cream foundation should be cleaned after every use because dried up foundation will "gunk up" the bristles, and you don't want that transferred back to your face on the next application. You can either spritz with brush cleanser and wipe the head back and forth on a tissue or rag, or wash with baby shampoo and dry overnight. Make sure to really wash your foundation and concealer brushes at least once a week to deep clean if you do use brush cleanser on them otherwise. If I wash my brushes with shampoo and water, I like to do this in the evening, so that they will be dry and ready to use again the next day. Especially dense brushes like paddle face brushes or kabukis can take a long time to dry, so make sure to calculate enough drying time if you need to use it again the following morning.
